As the team working with Worawa Aboriginal College, we were given the task of designing items for the Sandra Bardas Aboriginal Art Gallery. The original items requested were greeting cards, wrapping paper and gift bags. The designs were to feature artwork by the students of Worawa Aboriginal College and were to be targeted to a high end market.
Our solution was to create a whole new visual identity for the college and art gallery to create a high end look for the organisation. The first step was to design a new logo, based on the existing Worawa Aboriginal College logo. We retained the original eagle image, updated the fonts, and chose a black and gold colour scheme in order to create an exclusive, high-end feel. We used organic, owing black shapes to frame the student’s artwork and to echo the flowing lines and shapes in the art pieces. Our goal was to keep the focus of the designs on the stunning, original artworks themselves.
The outcome of our design project included the original items requested – the greeting cards, wrapping paper, and the gift shop bags. We also created a whole new visual identity for the organisation, and designed additional items such as canvas carry bags, a poster series, new business cards and a letterhead for the Sandra Bardas Aboriginal Art Gallery.
